Www.ownersdirect.co.uk - Holiday Scam?
I have recently booked a studio in Kefalonia, Greece with my girlfriend through ownersdirect.co.uk. This site acts simply as a way for holiday home ownersto advertise their homes not to partake in a any transactions. Having made a bank transfer for the deposit of 25 % to a U.K branch of NatWest my girlfriend emailed the owners asking details such as the address and if towels were provided and bike hire. The email response only made reference to the balance of the money being due The website does suggest it is normal practice to pay this 6 weeks in advance but we only booked around 5 weeks in advance anyway. and ignored all other questions.I then myself emailed a couple of days later asking for the address and two days later got the response that all details would be provided upon recipe of the balance. No email confirmation was ever sent to acknowledge the deposit being paid and I'm feeling slightly suspiciousowners. Is this normal practice? I feel very uncomfortable paying the balance to some one who is being so vague and unhelpful. I am now also worried that if I pull out on grounds of being 'uncomfortable' I will loose my deposit. There is a Geek number which just rings out. Please help Many thanks in advance.
