If you are not staying long in Bangkok then I would allow around $50 a day. Ground transport is cheap and reliable and food prices very reasonable providing you stick to moderate restaurants. You would need to details where you are going. Phuket is expensive, Udon Thani cheap |

Sure, your neccessities are taken care of - food is cheap if you eat outside of the hotel - have fun. |

One thousand Aussie Dollars should be enough for a two week trip to Thailand, providing you don't get too carried away. The most expensive things you pay for will probably be drinks and partying, possibly shopping too, depending on your taste and style. But your budget is realistic if that's what you want to know. |

If it lasts or not depends on you. For many toursts $1000 would be enough for hotels, food and entertainment. If you plan on drinking a lot in expensive nightclubs, throwing tips around you will use up your budget faster. If you intend to eat at the most expensive restaurants you can find then your money will go faster. How do you handle spending in your country? Do you routinely run out of money before the month is up then perhaps you will have problems in Thailand. But keep in mind that for many thrift travelers $1000 would even last a month and this includes hotels too! Some cities, like Phuket, are more expensive than other cities. Even Bangkok is cheaper than Phuket, especially when you consider local transportation. Pattaya is one of the cheapest cities. It all depends on what you expect to do during the day (beyond tours, ect that are paid for).. I live in Phuket and the general rule is Phuket is 30% more expensive then Bangkok. Currently my expense in Phuket is about $1500-$2000 a month (after rent). If you dont intend to, buy a lot, get bar girls every night, eat at 5 star restaurants, you will do fine. Street food is cheap (5-20baht a meal - under $1).. Family owned restaurants are fine (50-150 baht a meal - $1.50 - $5.00) Shopping comes down to how well you barter, but I suggest to use the 70baht for shirts, 100 baht for shorts and 200 baht for jeans rule. Nights out should cost no more then 300-500 baht if you ignore bar girls.. ---- This is a Holiday on the cheap... Prior to myself moving to Thailand, I would easily spend $2000 - 25000 on a 2 week Holiday.... It really depends what you expect and what you can afford. |
