Has anyone taken a holiday in Iran (Persepolis)?
I am thinking of a trip later in the year to see Isfahan and Persepolis and would be interested to hear of any other Western woman's experience there. No probs getting a visa I will be visiting friends, but the Iranians happily give tourist visas. I want to know mainly what is the absolute minumum covering I can get away with I do not want to look like a frump Shiva thanks for that. It's useful to know the dress code. I will be staying in Shiraz with my brother in law's family who all wear full abaya I can't do that, minimum hijab possible for me. Really looking forward to this trip.
Is it ok to go for a short holiday in Iran?
I was thinking about going for vacation, maby 1 week or less in Tehran in Iran with my mom and dad. But I am concerned about a few things. I know that they are very religious about Islam, so im woried that i'l screw up one way or another. Are they ok with Canadians and Thais? Im part Thai part canadian. I look mixed, only more caucasoid, so I may look a bit like them. Are they ok with Christians and Bhuddists? My mom's bhuddist and my dad's christian protestant but my family's not that religious. I have 2 chihuahuas, I heard muslims don't like dogs, so if I told someone or he knew I had 2 dogs, would he be angry? Would someone be angry if they knew I don't believe in god? I won't tell anyone but if they somehow knew, would they be mad? Those are some things that i would just like to know so I can come home in one piece. I like food, so I will try some Iranian dishes. I also hear that Iranians are the ancient ancestors of Europeans, and I origionaly came from England which is in...Europe about 300 years ago my dad's side so I might get to see how my ancient ancestors looked like. Oh well, any reconmendations? I hope I will have a good time there and will come home good with pictures to show my friends.Some time later in my life, would it be ok to see the Iranian country side? and to see the ancient temples and the wildlife?
