Where's a good beach holiday place in Southern England?
Somewhere close to London as in only a couple of hours away, Southern England, etc where there is a good beach for swimming and spending a couple of days in the summer, any suggestions?And preferably not too touristy...

Are the Channel Islands (Jersey) good for beach holidays?
We've already been on a two week holiday abroad this year so do not want to go on a short break to Spain etc so do not want any recommendations, we were just looking for somewhere near to the U.K but with better weather We were thinking Wales for 4 days but the weather just isn't good enough . So, we're thinking of going to the channel islands. Just wondering what the beaches are like etc? It says in June September it often exceeds 25C which would be perfect, but has anybody got any personal experience of the climate reliability of weather, and also how much better the weather is than in the U.K?
