What happened to the 'bargain holidays' predicted this year?
Many of the financial newspapers suggested there would be big problems for the UK travel industry this year, they bought masses of flights and booked hotel rooms based on last years sales growth but now the Uk has hit difficult times.The credit crunch, the tax increases, property market and everyone generally short of cash all would lead you to think that they would be struggling to sell them and yet, there's nothing much cheaper than last year.A friend of mine works in a hotel in Marmaris, Turkey which usually opens 1st of May and this year it will be 1st of June because they have NO GUESTS My family have just been to Portugal and said it was dead everywhere, i've just been to Egypt and it was busy but not as much as i'd expect it.Why isn't there a mass of cheap flights or holidays available?Is the UK travel industry playing hard ball?If there's anyone reading this who works in the travel industry, how are your sales so far this year and what's happening?
